Six families, composed of Philippine nationals, their Palestinian spouses and children, are leaving war-torn Gaza Strip under Manila's evacuation plan, the Philippine government said Monday.
Bayani Mangibin, a spokesman of the Department of Foreign Affairs, said the evacuees will exit through Rafa, the Gaza-Egypt border, being reopened on humanitarian considerations.
He said the evacuees will then proceed to Cairo and meet Embassy officials there.
Mangibin said as a progress compared with the past evacuation, the Palestinian spouses of the Filipinos in Gaza are now allowed to leave.
Out of the 108 Filipino residents in Gaza, 17 have joined the government's evacuation plan and returned to Manila in early January.
